“I feel good for the city and the fans. It’s all luck. There’s nothing we can do about it tonight but it went in our favor,” said Collison. “We’re gonna do our due diligence like we always do and try to make a good decision.”

Collison also admitted that he felt a little nervous as he understands that the NBA draft lottery can make or break a franchise’s fortune.

“Because of the magnitude how important it is. But also there’s nothing you can do about it. So you kind of just wait and see,” said Collison. “Then the work continues on trying to make the best decision with that. Then you get the player and then you got to create a good environment for that player to develop. So it’s all just a minor part of the process where you pick.”

Collison also said he’s unsure if he will represent the Thunder again the next time they are at the lottery, but considering how lucky the team got this go around, why ruin something great?

In terms of the statue that Thunder general manager Sam Presti mentioned about Collison if the team got lucky, Collison jokingly said that it was only going to happen if the team got the top two picks. In terms of celebrating, Collison said he’ll down a couple of drinks and call it a night.

Following the lottery’s results, the Thunder now own the 2nd, 12th, 30th and 34th overall picks in the 2022 NBA draft.
