Slowly, but surely, the Los Angeles Angels continue to fall out of postseason contention.

Their 14-game skid at the end of May is what triggered this collapse.

Since then, they have not been able to pull themselves out of this rut, even with the combined efforts of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani.

After being swept by the Baltimore Orioles this weekend, things have continued to get worse for the Halos.

Stats By STATS pointed out a depressing fact for the Angels, that after they were swept in Baltimore, they became the second team in baseball history to have been 11 games over the .500 mark and 11 games under at various points before the All-Star break.

After starting the season 24-13, the Angels are now 38-49 after being swept by the Orioles.

They are the 2nd team in #MLB history to be both 11 games over .500 and 11 games under .500 before the All-Star break, along with the 2019 Mariners.

This is not company you want to be in.

The 2019 Seattle Mariners were the other team to have had this dubious mark.

At least the Angels share a little bit of unwanted history with their division rivals.

In other words, they’re not alone.

But that doesn’t take the sting out of their collapse.

They’ve tried making changes, even firing their manager, but nothing has worked for the Halos.

They just continue to lose games and do so at a rapid rate.

The Angels at one point had the second-best record in the American League.

That all seems like a distant memory now.

This team has been unable to piece together wins since late May.

But their collapse has been catastrophic and mind-boggling.

They looked like they could finally break their recent string of years out of the playoffs after they bolstered their pitching staff.

But now, that streak is probably going to continue unless the Halos make some major changes and go on a crazy run.
