This Penn State receiver duo is drawing eyes of 2023 NFL draft scouts

Penn State has the task of replacing a first-round draft pick at wide receiver this season, which is rarely an easy feat for most programs. Jahan Dotson was a first-round selection of the Washington Commanders in the 2022 NFL draft, leaving behind a solid legacy as one of the best receivers to ever suit up for the Nittany Lions in program history. But Parker Washington is preparing for the challenge of becoming more of a leading man in the Penn State passing game, and new transfer addition Mitchell Tinsley is already well-regarded by scouts. And the two of those players are already on the NFL draft radar for 2023.

Touchdown Wire has been sharing lists of players to watch for at various positions for the 2023 NFL draft. Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was included on a list of cornerbacks to watch in the current draft cycle. But the receivers list included both Washington and Tinsley from Penn State.

Here is some of what Touchdown Wire had to say about Tinsley;

Last year, Tinsley was part of a Western Kentucky offense that threw the ball roughly seven million times per game.

Tinsley caught 87 passes last year for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns, finishing second in Conference USA and eighth nationally in receiving yardage. He has the ability to turn quick throws into home runs…

And here is some of what Touchdown Wire had to say about Parker;

Parker Washington has been a starter for the Penn State Nittany Lions since setting foot on campus in 2020. When he started the season opener, he became the first true freshman to start at Penn State since the 2015 season. As a true freshman, Washington caught 36 passes for 489 yards and six touchdowns.

Last season, Washington saw more targets, and his numbers nearly doubled. He caught 64 passes for Penn State in 2021, gaining 820 yards and scoring four times.

Washington likely serves as their main option out of the slot next season, with Tinsley coming to campus to operate on the outside.

The combo of Washington and Tinsley should be a solid one for quarterback Sean Clifford to rely on, as long as he has better protection from the offensive line this fall. The odd man out from this list is KeAndre Lambert-Smith, who is also capable of turning on the jets to create some big plays. The trio of receivers should work well together as offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich looks to find ways to get the offense to be more consistently productive this season.
